This not the type of story I usually choose, but it was recommended, so I picked it up.  I was engaged right from the beginning.  I was especially appreciative of the author’s use the “third party omniscient” story teller, which allows the reader to keep up with what’s going on with all the characters.  You would think that using this point of view would fore-warn the reader and eliminate surprises, but the author did not let that happen.  It’s an enjoyable, satisfying, and well-told story.

Well, just to let you know, I enjoyed the book.  Enjoyed it quickly in fact!

LOL  I love that you got right into the action immediately and held nothing back as far as action, murder, treachery, and financial gain, as well as professional success when it comes to Blacks.  I just wish you had more time to expand upon Cory's life and how his sexuality came into play and all that mess.  I was looking for a little sex to come in, but I must say, I actually liked the fact that there wasn't any.  It keeps the reader from being distracted by that and focusing on the story at hand.  And in all honesty, I'm lovin' it, man... keep up the good work!

I finally got to read Time is Wright, (I actually purchased it in May 2007).  I found it completely engaging and captivating.  I especially liked the various manifestations of family and the dynamics there of.  I found myself at the end wanting desperately to be run out and buy the next installment of Betram and company.  What a fun read for capturing the urban energy around gay sensibilities in the urban street life.  Thank you.

For a First Time Author I was very impressed. The pace was fast and hard to resist picking up when you have a few minutes to spare. I love your strong characters and their relationships. I am recommending this as an engrossing page turner.

This book had me right from the start....I couldn’t put it down. The action was hard hitting and I love the light side of it. Its suspense will keep you reading the whole way through. This was well worth the money. I’m looking forward to what you come up with next.

I read this book in three days! This book is great! I could not put it down or turn the pages fast enough. I wanted to know more about the Organization and how it was started. I was really surprised at the end, I didn’t see it coming. I let my sister read it and she too, couldn’t put it down. At one point she even cried (I won’t say where). Thank you for such a great book add both of us to your Chicago fan base.

First of all - Kudos to the new and upcoming author!!!  I must say I thoroughly enjoyed your book.  The way you weaved the character’s lives together was very intricate.  It was a real page turner.  It’s just the kind of book I would like to write but can never really pull it all together.  Congratulations, I look forward to your next book.  Once again I really enjoyed your work.  I will recommend it too my friends.  Take care…

Wow! This book kept me going, I didn’t want to put it down. I was amazed at how the suspense kept the page turning. I had to stop reading it during my lunch break because it made me late each time. I remembered that I left it in my desk at work one Friday after I got home and drove back to work 34 miles, just so I could finish it over the weekend. For me that says a lot because I don’t go in to work unless I have to. Thanks man for a great book, when is the next one?

Yo, you put it down. This book was off the hook. Those guys had it together. They were smooth in everything they did and you were never sure which way it was going. Dexter had his hand in everything and kept the story going. He could have gone a number of ways and changed the whole story.

If you like suspense novels, Orean D. Chatman's first novel, provides that and so much more. The much more includes principal characters that are same gender loving. Chatman takes us on a thrill ride beginning with the accidental witness of a murder, the murderers pursuit and intimidation of the witness and his family, the police investigation that grows more complicated by the minute, a romantic attraction between one of the story's good guys and the murderer himself, and finally an ending that explodes all over the pages of the final chapters. Sounds intriguing? Indeed it is. The book is strong in character development and plot development with many twists and turns. This was Chatman's first book and you will witness his growth as an author as the book seems to get better and better the more you read. I encourage you to get a copy of your own at OreanDChatman.com.

I am at a loss for words. All I can say… I loved it! I loved it! I loved it! Once I read the first chapter I was captivated. By the time I had gotten to the sixth chapter I was hooked. I did not want to put this book down. “Of course I had to get some sleep.” The next day I found myself screaming at “Cory Monday.” You idiot, how could you do that? “I’m sure my neighbors thought I was crazy.” In one chapter I hated Cory and in the next, my heart feels for him. Overall, this book kept my attention and did not disappoint me. Great job, wonderful imagination; I can’t wait to see what’s coming next from Orean D. Chatman.

I did not want it to end, but knew it would, as I was reading with a vengeance. I did not want to put it down, and did prolong the reading process a couple of days, just to be able to pick it up and enjoy it further. I cannot wait until your next book is out. I am definitely a fan.

I fell in love with Raheem, I had a vivid picture of him.  I’m adding this book to my top 10 and I don’t really read crime fiction (but I will from now on).

Jen Scott, St. Louis, MO

I’m picky about the books I read and I loved your characters.  I was there with the car chase.  When it is made into a movie (I’m sure it will be) I hope they stay true to the book.

Mike Swanson, San Francisco, CA

Excellent first novel, your description of the restaurants had me driving around San Francisco looking for them.   I loved the relationships between the characters and you kept the tension going throughout the book.
